6th STAR SUMMIT of Saveetha School of Law

The much-anticipated 6th STAR Summit at Saveetha School of Law began with energy and enthusiasm as around 380 students showcased their research through poster presentations. Peers and expert evaluators from various colleges engaged in lively discussions, providing critical feedback that enriched the learning experience.

Adding to the pride of the event, the college invited parents to be part of the summit, allowing them to witness their children’s academic achievements firsthand.

Ensuring a seamless balance between academics and research, students were systematically allotted to different faculty members each day, allowing every participant an opportunity to exhibit their presentation skills. This well-structured approach ensured that students gained valuable research exposure while staying committed to their coursework.

The grand inauguration was led by Shri. Embalam R. Selvam (Government of Puducherry), setting an inspiring tone for the summit. Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, Founder & Chancellor of SIMATS, presided over the session, emphasizing the role of research in shaping future leaders.

The session began with a warm introduction by Principal Dr. Asha Sundaram, who highlighted the importance of research-driven education. She later felicitated the distinguished speakers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the event.

The day featured powerful speaker sessions from renowned academicians who shared their expertise on various aspects of legal and interdisciplinary research. Prof. (Dr.) Susmitha P Mallaya (Himalayan University) emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex legal issues. Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Divakaran (GNLU) provided insights into the evolving landscape of legal studies and its impact on policy-making. Prof. (Dr.) Annamma Samuel (Delhi University) discussed transdisciplinary approaches in legal education, highlighting their significance in modern legal practice. Dr. Cholaraja Mudimannan (Campus Law Centre, Delhi University) explored the integration of data analytics in legal research, showcasing how empirical methods enhance legal analysis.

With thought-provoking discussions, expert insights, and a structured approach to research and learning, Day 1 set a high benchmark, promising an exciting and intellectually enriching summit ahead.

Day 2 – February 18, 2025: A Day of Thought-Provoking Discussions & Academic Rigor

The second day of the 6th STAR Summit at Saveetha School of Law was marked by an impressive display of research and intellectual engagement, with 441 students presenting their posters on diverse topics. The interactive sessions allowed participants to showcase their analytical and presentation skills while receiving valuable feedback from evaluators and peers. To ensure that students balanced both research and academics, the college continued its structured approach of allotting students to different faculty members each day, enabling them to actively participate in the summit.

The session commenced with an introduction by Principal Dr. Asha Sundaram, who later felicitated the esteemed speakers for their valuable contributions to the summit.The highlight of the day was the presence of Guest of Honour, Dr. Tenzin Jangchup Khampa, Assistant Professor of Law, Pondicherry University, who shared his insights on contemporary legal challenges and research methodologies. The day also featured engaging speaker sessions by Dr. V. Shyam Kishore, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs), Alliance School of Law, Bangalore, and Dr. Devakumar Jacob, Faculty, School of Law, TISS, Mumbai, who discussed the evolving landscape of constitutional governance, rights-based legal approaches, and the role of interdisciplinary research in shaping future legal frameworks.

With an overwhelming response from students, thought-provoking expert sessions, and enriching discussions, Day 2 upheld the spirit of research and academic collaboration, setting the stage for an exciting final day of the summit.

Day 3 – February 19, 2025: A Powerful Conclusion Marked by Excellence & Recognition

The final day of the 6th STAR Summit at Saveetha School of Law was an electrifying culmination of research, discussions, and celebration. With 510 students presenting their posters, the event saw an overwhelming display of academic enthusiasm. As it was the last day, even more evaluators joined in, making the discussions more engaging and insightful. Students, brimming with confidence, passionately presented their research findings, receiving valuable feedback that further enriched their work.

Adding to the significance of the day, parents once again became an integral part of the summit, witnessing their children’s dedication and academic growth. Their presence fostered a sense of pride and motivation among the students, making the event even more memorable.

The day featured renowned guest speakers who delivered impactful sessions, adding to the intellectual depth of the summit. Dr. Shivender Rahul, Head of the Department of Humanities, National Law University, Nagpur, spoke on the evolving role of humanities in legal studies. Dr. Ashit Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Professor of Law, Dharmashastra National Law University (BRBRAITT Campus), provided insights into contemporary legal issues and their implications. Dr. Veena Roshan Jose, Assistant Professor of Law and Head of the Centre for Environmental Law, National Law University, Nagpur, highlighted pressing environmental law concerns and sustainable legal frameworks. Dr. Shruti Nandwana, Assistant Professor of Law, Dharmashastra National Law University (BRBRAITT Campus), engaged students with discussions on legal research methodologies and policy-making.

One of the most awaited moments of the summit was the distribution of 300 trophies to the best presenters of the event. Each day, 100 students were selected for their outstanding research work, presentation skills, and the quality of their posters. The award ceremony was a proud and joyous occasion, as students were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence.

The 6th Edition of the STAR Summit truly embodied the spirit of research, collaboration, and innovation. Over the three days, students gained valuable exposure, honed their analytical skills, and interacted with leading academicians, making the event a remarkable success.
