SPECIAL LECTURE ON EXPLORING DIGITAL INDIA: A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE (01/06/2024)

On June 1, 2024, Saveetha School of Law hosted a special lecture titled "Exploring Digital India: A Legal Perspective." The lecture was presented by Mr. Gokul Narayan, COO of the Asian School of Cyber Laws, and Ms. Shuchi Nagpal, CEO of the Asian School of Cyber Laws. The event was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate students of Saveetha School of Law.

The speakers delved into various legal aspects of India's digital transformation, beginning with an overview of the rapid growth of digital infrastructure and services under the Digital India initiative. Mr. Gokul Narayan emphasised the importance of understanding cyber laws in this context, highlighting challenges such as data breaches, online fraud, and privacy violations. He discussed relevant legal frameworks, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and recent amendments aimed at enhancing cybersecurity.

Ms. Shuchi Nagpal focused on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the digital context. She explained the intricacies of protecting digital content and the evolving legal measures to safeguard intellectual property in the online environment. Her discussion included the ethical use of artificial intelligence and the necessity for regulations to manage its societal impact. The session also included an interactive segment where the speakers explored the practical implications of cyber law through real-life examples. This interactive approach provided students with a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in digital law and its real-world applications.

The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, where students engaged with the speakers, gaining further insights into the practical applications of cyber laws and IPR in India.
